Hanszen Laporte’s Trial Victory Upheld by 5th Circuit Court of Appeals

Recently, Hanszen Laporte attorneys Anthony Laporte and Zack Smith had their trial win from summer 2021 upheld by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, LA. In a terse, three-page opinion entered on May 16, 2022, the 5th Circuit affirmed the prior jury trial victory in full, resolutely closing the matter out. The case, predicated on perceived technical violations of the home equity refinancing statutes, had been one of many brought as part of a cottage industry of refinancing lawsuits. Hanszen Laporte has been defending these suits for the past handful of years and is one of the few law firms to ever take any of these cases to trial and, rarer still, win the case outright. This vindication at the 5th Circuit level further serves to justify the faith and confidence Hanszen Laporte’s clients have in their attorneys. Understandably so.
