Hanszen Laporte prevails at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals! Attorney Matthew Hansel secured the dismissal of all claims against Hanszen Laporte’s client after appealing a ruling by the District Court that the client was subject to Texas jurisdiction. The client, a company based in California, was sued in Texas for a number of claims related to a failed business transaction among multiple parties, including several Texas companies. Hanszen Laporte made a special appearance in the case to challenge Texas’s jurisdiction over the client. Although the District Court initially ruled in favor of the Plaintiff, determining the client could be sued in Texas, the Fourteenth Court of Appeals this week reversed the District Court’s ruling and rendered judgment in favor Hanszen Laporte’s client, dismissing all claims against the client.
