Hanszen Laporte Obtains Summary Judgement and Dismissal

Attached is the Final Judgement in favor of Hanszen Laporte’s client in the defense of a Texas Constitution 50A(6) case involving a home equity loan. With hundreds of these cases in Texas to date, there have been few final adjudications, as lenders, originators and insurers have found themselves enmeshed in multiple cases, in multiple forums, where Plaintiffs’ attorneys have sought to secure large damages based upon alleged technical violations of the Texas Constitution. On March 8, 2021, Hanszen Laporte, on behalf of its clients, obtained a summary judgment and dismissal of such a case in the Southern District in Texas.  At Hanszen Laporte, we stand ready to take on the tricky and perplexing issues for our clients and ultimately, prevail.
