Hanszen Laporte Invalidates Mechanic’s and Materialman’s Lien
August 21, 2020
Hanszen Laporte attorneys Kent Hanszen and Forrest Cohrs successfully obtained an order invalidating a mechanic’s and materialman’s lien wrongfully filed against a client’s homestead property. The client had recently engaged with a contractor to renovate his home. The contractor, despite being notified of deficiencies in his workmanship, refused to make repairs, filed a lien on the client’s home, and sought to judicially foreclose said lien. The firm obtained not only a ruling that the lien was invalid, but also an order entitling the client to statutory damages and attorneys’ fees. Hanszen Laporte recognizes that in the face of an unreasonable claimant, there is no other option than to stand and fight. The firm remains committed to achieving positive results on behalf its clients, regardless of the circumstances.
